A series of circular walls that surrounded the city, but today a part of the uniquely divided city, the Venetian Walls of Nicosia were built by the Venetians during the period that dominated the island at the beginning of the 16th century (1567) and were constructed to protect against the impending siege of the Ottomans. Through the walls, the aristocracy of the time and the economic elite lived and was the richest part of the area. If he could withstand the pressures of a siege, he could comfortably accommodate all the inhabitants at war.

Abstract

This documentary is a presentation of the Walls surrounding Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. The Walls were constructed by the Venetian conquerors in 1567 for fortification purposes. Reference is made on the history of the construction of the Walls, the degradation and changes that were brought on them, as well as the restoration to their original glory by the Department of Antiquities.
